If you’re looking for a quick answer, most siding replacement projects fall within a fairly predictable range—but every home is different. The two main factors are what you’re tearing off and what you’re putting on.
Tear Off Cost Breakdown
In Minnesota, most homes have vinyl, metal, or hardboard (cedar, fiber cement, etc.) siding. A smaller percentage is stucco, and most homes with Brick either have it as an accent or only on one side of their house. The costs to tear off differ between each of the materials.

Repalcement Cost Breakdown
After you tear off the existing siding, you will need to replace it with new siding. Replacement cost refers to the cost of the material and installation. In Minnesota, we use four main materials: vinyl, steel, fiber cement, and engineered wood. Each product has many different manufacturers and different price ranges.

Does the siding replacement cost include soffit and fascia?
No. The siding costs shown in this guide are for the siding portion of the project. Replacing the soffit and fascia would be an additional cost and depends on the amount and type of material being installed. Typically, you can get your soffit and fascia replaced at a discounted rate if you are already replacing your siding.
Does the siding replacement cost include a dumpster and disposal?
The tear-off pricing should account for the removal and disposal of the existing siding. Dumpster costs are not included in the figures above. Our typical dumpster cost is $500 per dumpster. If you have over 4,000 square feet of roofing and/or siding, an additional dumpster will likely be needed.
Does the siding cost include replacing rotten or damaged sheathing?
No. Repairs to rotten or damaged wall sheathing are additional because the extent of the damage may not be known until the existing siding is removed. We like to have a predetermined rate for how we will invoice sheathing or framing repairs before we start work.
Does the siding replacement cost include trim around windows and doors?
No. The costs shown above do not include replacing window or door trim. They only include standard siding accessories, such as J-channel or utility trim, where required for the siding installation. Custom or replacement window and door trim would be an additional cost.
